I have always loved natural hair so relaxing Lulu’s hair was never an option. My little girl has been natural for 2yrs.
The first year was tough… Her hair was a nappy fro 90% of the time. “Just cut her hair already, clearly you don’t know what to do with it.” I just let it grow with zero care.
Then she visited family and they were so excited with all that hair. I don’t know how many times they blow dried her hair, It was gorgeous. When she came back, her hair started breaking. Tiny little hairs would fall off at a mere touch. She had stunted growth at the back of her head and a few bold spots (ringworm). All this sparked her hair journey.
The second year she started wearing a satin bonnet, best decision I ever made. We did the baggy method for a good month, every single day until her hair stopped breaking.
- 50ml ORS Replenishing Conditioner
- 100ml Distilled Water
- 50ml Aloe Vera Juice/Gel
- 30ml Glycerine
- 1tbsp Olive oil
- 3 drops of tree tea oil
I would spray this mix till hair was damp then cover her head with a custom made satin bonnet with a shower cap inside. After a month the breakage stopped.
I wash and deep condition her hair weekly. Currently, we are trying to grow those edges. She didn’t lose the edges from tight styles. She cut them out when they wouldn’t stay in her puffs. She is one scissor happy girl when it comes to the edges.
